To contour first you must make sure you have the tools to do so. For this look I chose a bronzer (Soleil Tan De Chanel) as my contour shade and a very light concealer (Maybelline Dream Lumi) as my highlight. There are different ways to contouring but for this post, I chose to use Kim Kardashian's technique.
Kim Kardashian is famous for her makeup look. She always has a perfect face of makeup and looks beautifully bronzed at all times. Due to her makeup artists keen eye for detail, the placement of both the contour shade and the highlighter give Kim's look definition.
Although you may think it would be difficult to replicate her look, the technique used is actually very simple. At first, when applying both shades of contour and highlight, you may notice that it looks a little scary. Don't let this worry you as it will all come together in the end result.
First of all, take your contour shade, this would typically be darker than your usual everyday bronzer. Start off by applying this shade right underneath your cheekbones (refer to images as a guide.) I applied two layers as this is where I wanted most of the definition to be. Next, take some more of the darker shade and apply it to the temples and down the sides of the bridge of the nose (make sure to leave the centre of the bridge bare.)
The highlight shade can now be used down the centre of the bridge of the nose, right underneath the contour shade which was applied underneath the cheek bones, the centre of the chin, underneath the eyes, making sure to copy the shape pictured below, the edges of the mouth, the brow bones and finally the centre of the forehead (refer to images as a guide.)
The next step is the most fun, seeing the entire look coming together! It is time to apply your foundation, I used Revlon Colorstay Foundation in 320 True Beige. First stipple the foundation all over the face, gentle pressing it in as you spread the makeup evenly. After doing so, begin to blend in the foundation. As you do this, the contour and highlight shades will start to blend in. Make sure to double check that everything is seamlessly blended. You should now be left with a natural yet perfectly prepped face for the rest of your look!
I decided to go for a Kim Karsashion inspired full makeup look by applying some pressed powder to my T-Zone, a little bit of powdered bronzer for an extra dose of the sun-kissed look, a peach shade blush, shimmering highlighter to the top of my cheek bones and brow bones and finally a Kim Kardashian inspired eye look. For this I used some shimmering eye shadows on the lid, smudged some waterproof eyeliner into the lash line, blended some black shadow into the water line and added mascara to my top and bottom lashes. Voila!
