In it's first ever year, Liverpool Urban Hair Show has really made an
outstanding impression on all who attended! Using only the smallest amount of
money possible in order to create a spectacular event in aid of a charity is
not easy. Liverpool Urban Hair Show manged to pull it off with sheer
determination and the services of many local businesses; Majestic Model
Management who supplied the shows beautiful models, Leo Casino for hosting the
event, the fabulous Society Girl's showcasing their daring burlesque talent,
TS!t Designs who provided their edgy t-shirts for the models and of course the
very talented students of Wirral Metropolitan College who demonstrated their
spectacular hair and beauty skills! There were of course many other contributors to this event who all
helped make it so memorable.
I attended Liverpool Urban Hair Show as a
blogger in order to take photographs for my write-up. I was, of course, very
excited but did not expect it to be as "put together" as it actually
was. Seeing as this was the very first of it's kind here in Liverpool, I am
extremely impressed by the amount of hard work and planning that must of gone
into this event. Each and every person I met who had contributed their services
towards the hair show was so nice and truly professional. Not a thing went
wrong throughout the entire evening, not that we saw of anyway!
As I mentioned earlier, this event was
thrown in aid of charity. The charity chosen was the Liverpool One Foundation.
The Liverpool One Foundation aims to help and develop all areas throughout the
city; this includes offering grants. One thing which really stood out to me was
that the Liverpool One Foundation has been helping to get young people off the
streets by funding activities such as fishing with the older adults in the
area. What a fantastic way to not only keep younger people occupied over the
Summer but to also teach them many useful skills!
The main theme of this event was... you
guessed it... hair! The level of hair skills that the Wirral Met. students
demonstrated was incredible! As you can see in the images, a lot of the styles
are very "high fashion" which is right up my alley, as they would
say. I was completely sucked into watching the whole time the models where
walking the catwalk. Not only were the models great but also their hair, make-up
and outfits were pure perfection. As you can see, I enjoyed myself!
In between catwalk shows, entertainment
was constantly provided. This is something to admire as this kept everybody
happy at all times. Entertainment included many musical acts also burlesque
dancers too! My favourite was the Vertigo stilt walkers, making me feel like
the smallest person ever... it was amazing! Also keeping us entertained was the
fact that we got to vote for our favourite hair styles throughout the entire
event. This made things a lot more interesting and definitely kept us paying
attention to every detail.
At the end of the night, the final three
hairstylists and their models were called to the stage. I was happy to see that
one of my favourites had made the cut. After much anticipation the winner was
announced... it was my favourite! Although I had a favourite, I loved them all,
it was definitely hard to choose between styles and all of the girls should be
so proud of themselves!
Now that Liverpool Urban Hair Show 2013
has come to an end, I am now anxiously awaiting to attend the next. LUHS is
going to come back even bigger, better and stronger. I hope that I get to be a
part of the experience again soon, I am sure you will too...
