2013 Favourites: The Makeup Edit

Now the new year has arrived, it is time to take a moment and look back on my favourite beauty products of 2013. I often find myself lost in the latest beauty fads, from the latest miracle foundation to the holy grail of mascaras. Sometimes these items come and go but at times are here to stay. My picks of last year are definitely here to stay and I can honestly say that these are my "holy grail" products of the past year if not, from long before then too!

Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot  £12 - Do you suffer from an oily t-zone? Soap & Glory's One Heck of a Blot translucent face powder may be the one for you! I have used this powder for quite a while now and am still in love! The product is so finely milled that it just applies and sits so nicely on the skin. There have been days where I have needed to re-apply this multiple times, due to my oily nose, which could cause build-up throughout the day. However, this powder has never caused me to break out hence it being a staple in my collection!

Revlon Colorstay Foundation £12.49 - If you have been a reader of mine for a while, you will probably be rolling your eyes right now! Revlon Colorstay foundation has to be my No.1 most raved about, most blogged about makeup product, ever! It is truly amazing, especially for a "lower end" beauty product, it's an absolute treasure. Revlon Colorstay comes in a wide range of shades, suitable to most skin types due to there being two different formulations; Normal/Dry and Combination/Oily. I have tested both combinations and love both but stick to combination/oily as this is my skin type.

Burberry Effortless Mascara £21.50 - I can't really express how much I love this mascara. It's wonderful... amazing! It's simply the best mascara ever, nothing compares to it in my eyes. Although, I do have a few other favourite mascaras, Burberry just got it so right with this one. It never clumps, it lasts all day and most importantly, is easy to apply. It really is, effortless...

Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner £19 - Another raved about product here on Beaut Chic. The amazing Chanel Stylo Yeux eyeliner! This eyeliner does not budge which is fantastic until it comes to removing your makeup at the end of the night! A tip to anybody that purchases this amazing eyeliner, the Lancome eye makeup remover works perfectly for taking this off.

Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me £2.99 - This may not be that exciting as it is not your typical lipstick. For me, this is much better! I often have the pleasure of dealing with dry lips :( This can be a pain in the bum when it comes to finding lip products that don't accentuate any imperfections. This could be compared to the YSL Sheer Candy lip "balms" but after testing both, I prefer the Maybelline Baby Lips so much more! I love how "Cherry Me" makes my lips look super plump and colourful without being too "out there". They also help moisturise my lips and last much longer than some other lip products I have tested in the past!

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer £7.99 -  I have struggled with dark under eye circles for many years but never found a concealer that covered them nicely without making them look 10 times worse! After reading multiple rave reviews on the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer, I decided "What the heck?" and finally gave it a go. I accidently picked up a shade lighter than intended (light instead of medium) when purchasing the product but came to find that this shade works better than expected! The concealer comes with a sponge applicator, already attached, which comes in very handy for application. The sponge is pe-treated so will not harbor icky bacteria. I find that this concealer blends so easily, covers perfectly, is very buildable and leaves the skin looking so natural, like nothing has been used what-so-ever! Typically, concealers can look very drying underneath my eyes but this looks so natural and actually acts as a highlighter too, brightening the area, reducing any shadows along the way!

    1. It's a must have for me now!

I misplaced mine for a few days and felt lost haha! I definitely need to get my hands on some more next week.

As for the Maybelline concealer, it's one of a kind! I will most likely do a stand alone review on it very soon or use it in a makeup look post.
