2013 Favourites: The Skincare Edit

Over the past few years, I have been very strict when it comes to my skincare regime but more so in 2013. I have tested many creams, serums and face washes but the following are what, in the end, stayed staples in my routine throughout the past year.

Yves Saint Laurent Forever Youth Liberator £95- Some people may think that serums are just another "boring" step in their daily routine when really, they are more than worth the extra few minutes if seconds. A good serum can help the skin to hold in more moisture, especially when applied before your creams. I have gone through so many high-street and high end serums but have never found one like the YSL Forever serum. My skin instantly feels plump and moisturised this serum also makes applying foundation so much easier. My foundation blends like a dream after using this. My favourite part of using this product is waking up the morning after applying it and seeing the visible results in my skin!

Chanel Mousse Exfoliante Purete £38 - You may already of seen my post where I raved about my daily Chanel skincare routine. I have never found a better face wash or scrub than that of the Chanel range. First of all, the smell luscious! Second of all, the really do get deep down into those pesky pores, cleaning the face so well without ever making my skin feel tight or dry.

L’Oreal Youth Code Night Cream £12.59 - L'Oreal Youth Code has been a favourite of mine for a while now. I started off by using the day cream (at night) and loved how it made my skin feel. I also compared it to the Chanel Hydramax Moisturizer which is something I still stick by to this day. After loving the day cream, I began to use the night and fell in love with it the same. I didn't say any major differences between both creams but loved them both and will continue to use them for a very long time!

Body Shop Facial Brush £4 - First of all let me start off by saying, I have not always loved this facial brush. The reason why? I first bought this around two weeks before my wedding. I was so excited to try this, in hope of making my skin look beautiful for the biggest day of my life. I went home, gently scrubbed my entire face, leaving the bathroom with a very sore but clean feeling face. The next day, I woke up to some minor breakouts, obviously the brush had helped bring all the muck up to the surface, which was not nice but I would rather it be out than in. Over the next few days, more small spots appeared making me very annoyed indeed! Let me also add that I was quite sick at the time with a pesky flu so this may have contributed to my outbreak of ickyness! Thankfully, my skin cleared up before the wedding... Fast forward to the future, I decided to try it just on the nose area once every 2 weeks, this works perfectly! The pores on my nose look super clean and this routine helps prevent any blackheads as this is the area I was most prone to getting them. Sorry about the long story... lets just say, I love this little fella now!

Re Gen Cream £3.99 - I am not sure if you have heard all of the rave reviews about this little gem? I heard of this through a friend as I was feeling a little insecure about the scar on the bridge of my nose which was left over from me making the stupidest mistake of my life as a teenager by piercing it :( I know... I would never do anything like that now! Anyway, she told me that it was similar to Bio Oil but at a much lower cost. I purchased this from "Home Bargains" for £3.99 which is just insane! After using it for over a year, I am in love. I have not noticed any major reductions in my scar but have seen how it evens out all other imperfections on the skin such as minor spot scar reductions etc. I have also learnt a new way of using this beauty which will be revealed in a whole other post in the near future, so keep your eyes peeled!

Clarins Moisure Rich Body Lotion £30 - This is the newest product from my favourites list. In fact, I have only been using this for around one month now. I am never too impressed by body lotions. I own so many and love them all but don't feel the need to talk about them. This on the other hand is amazing! It has a lovely scent which is not strong at all. It applies beautifully, melting into the skin like butter and most importantly, makes my skin feel better than it ever has before! If you suffer from dry skin, I highly recommend trying this as it is a very rich but not too heavy lotion. I would firstly visit a Clarins counter for a sample though just to see that it fits to your skin type before making a purchase.

Nivea in Shower Body Moisturiser Normal £2.37 - What can I say about this genius invention?! I am so happy that this product exists, it is such a time saver! There are two different formulations, one for normal skin and one for dry skin. I have only tried the normal skin formula and love how easy this product is to work with. After washing my body, I apply this, leaving it to sit on my skin for 1-2 mins whilst I wash my face. I then rinse it off and pat dry. This leaves my skin feeling comfortable, not oily or tacky at all. It also smells SO good! A highly recommended product for any Nivea lover!
