Luckily for me, I live close by to one of the most beautiful historic villages in the UK, Port Sunlight. Port Sunlight was built by the famous Lever Brothers to house workers of the famous village soap factory which is now a part of Unilever. Unilever own many worldwide established brands including some of our favourite names within beauty such as; Dove, TRESemme and Simple as well as my all time favourite ice cream brand, Ben and Jerry's... Yum!
Not only is Port Sunlight a beautiful place for long relaxing walks, it is also home to the Lady Lever Art Gallery which was built by William Lever and first opened its doors in 1922. It is one of my favourite places to visit, especially on a quite Sunday. The gallery features many paintings, sculptures, artefacts from around the world and period furniture, set-up in five different rooms, recreating period interiors of historic homes.
The Lady Lever Art Gallery also hosts exhibitions from time to time which typically span over a few months. The most recent exhibit, "Putting on the Glitz" really caught my attention because, as you know, I adore fashion and was excited to find out that this little gem would feature everything I love just a few minutes away from home!
Putting on the Glitz features 20 outfits from National Museums Liverpool's fashion collection with my favourite being an evening dress previously belonging to the daughter of the Chief Officer on the Titanic!
This exhibition is still running and will end on 28th February 2016. If like me, you love fashion or even work within fashion and design, this exhibition will really benefit you. I was amazed at how beautiful the smaller details on these pieces were and really felt that I had stepped back in time...
