Year in Review: Beauty and Fashion 2017

2017 was an incredible year for all things beauty and fashion related. This year brought so much variety to the table in comparison to other years, in my opinion, making it the perfect time for self expression and experimentation.

Last year, I definitely came into my own, style wise. I accepted the fact that I not only love to be girly but I do still adore my "metal roots" and love to wear my band tees wherever possible! I no longer worry about what image I portray because, to be quite frank, we can wear whatever the BLEEP we want!

When I look back at all of the beauty trends from 2017, I feel that Instagram played a huge part in what was hot. From the cute sped-up tutorial videos to the insane wavy brow trends, we certainly saw it all! I loved every second of it though. It's great to see the community demonstrating their creative sides online. Whether that be to showcase their extremely insane artistic skills or playful funny side... It was all very relevant and really did help shape last years beauty and fashion community into something completely new and exciting.

I am not one to jump on the hype bandwagon so a lot of what you see on Beaut Chic is just genuinely what I am loving in the moment. I am not heading out to spend £££'s on the latest Kim Kardashian-West product because everyone else is... Even if it would fetch me more readers! Because of that, I wanted to do a quick recap of my favourite 2017 Beauty and Fashion moments. All of which I am still obsessing over to this day!

SLEEK MAKEUP: NO MORE MAKEUP SHAMING - ANTI BULLYING CAMPAIGN

Not only were Sleek on point with every new product release last year, they also launched one of the most ground breaking campaigns I have ever seen in beauty "My Face, My Rules" which was created to put an end to makeup shaming, once and for all. I even got to be a part of this by attending the incredible launch party which really motivated me to take my own steps towards working with Ditch the Label, the worlds largest anti-bullying charity.

Read about how I overcame my own personal bullying experience by heading to the Ditch the Label website. They also offer support to anybody going through similar experiences and I highly recommend checking them out.

THE CURVE FASHION FESTIVAL: BODY POSITIVITY

Again, another incredible summer ended on a high with one of my favourite events which showcased in my home city of Liverpool. Celebrating us curvier ladies, the Curve Fashion Festival is always full of so many positive seminars, held by some of the most influential ladies in the business today. Another favourite of mine are always the runway shows which feature top brands worn by the most gorgeous curvy models, strutting their thang down the catwalks!

BOTANICS: CHANGING BEAUTY FOR THE BETTER

I don't often fall head over heels in love with a brand after one product but that certainly changed when I tested this amazing eye cream from Botanics. Since then, I have worked with the amazing team which has allowed me to test so many different products which I, whole-heatedly believe have single handily changed my skin for the better this year!

CLARKS: MY FEET LOVE ME!

Clarks shoes are often thought of as being for either the younger or older generations but this year, I discovered just how wrong that is. I have literally lived in two pairs of shoes for most of the year, both being from this incredible brand. Having wide feet can definitely be a right pain in the bum but Clarks have really had my back with both work shoes and beautiful winter booties!

THE BRITISH STYLE COLLECTIVE (THE CLOTHES SHOW): I WORKED WITH THEM!

What an experience this was! The Clothes Show has been a long-running fashion event which I have wanted to attend for so many years! Kind of like Fashion Week, this multi-day event features runway shows, discounted shopping, fashion exhibitions and large scale fashion shows which are like nothing you have ever seen! Insanely enough, I actually got to work with the team this year as they re-branded to the British Style Collective and moved to my home city of Liverpool. I had an incredible time and can't wait for the next.

MET QUARTER LIVERPOOL: HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

Now you may call me biased but I absolutely loved this place. Met Quarter is a luxury mini shopping mall in Liverpool. One of which I have had the absolute pleasure of working with on many occasions. However, this one topped everything. The incredible MQ team arranged for myself and my amazing Mum to have a lovely pamper day with them across multiple MQ stores. Including a lovely beauty makeover at Illamasqua, who I am now in love with, and a fabulous hair treat at Sassoon! I have never seen my mum smile so much, she was almost in tears and kept telling us all how beautiful she felt which really made my year. We made sure to flaunt her beautiful makeover afterwards by celebrating with cocktails.
HUFFINGTON POST AND THE UK BLOG AWARDS

Going back to 2016 for a quick second, if that wasn't already incredible with my trip to the UK Blog Awards, I was asked to write for the Huffington Post and then given the opportunity to be one of their permanent Style Bloggers!!! To start that off, I wrote something a little different and maybe a tad controversial but it definitely worked in my favour as it's the most liked post within that section of the website! My post: The Toxic Truth about Makeup was definitely a highlight for me in 2017!

Also, to start this year off right, guess who made the UK Blog Awards 2018 finals?! Me! This is with great thanks to you guys for being so incredible and voting for me! It means the absolute world and I hope that I make you proud... Here's to another incredible year!

HAPPY 2018 BEAUTS!
